The Grinder Agent Installer

The Grinder Agent Installer eases the installation of  The Grinder Agents. The installation wizard just asks the user for the host and port of the master console, so that the local agent can communicate with the master.

Motivations

There are many situations in which we need to execute our load tests in a heterogeneous environment. For example, when simulating real users accessing the target application through a firewall, 3G, VPN, directly (through a router) and from different locations. Unfortunately, we usually don't have access to all of these computers in order to install and run the agent.

For our convenience we have created an installer that lets an unexperienced user install the agent effortlessly, just clicking on next and provisioning some data in a graphical environment.

Now we just have to distribute the installer and wait for the connections to the console ;)

Technology Used

The project is modelled with  Apache Maven and we have used  IzPack to design and build the agent installer.

Supported Platforms

Note: There's no desktop shortcut available for Mac OSX.
